In these sessions I try to communicate the essence of the spirit of tea as well as educate people about tea. The atmosphere includes flowers, incense, tea snacks, candles, and beautiful music. These things serve to help fully open people’s senses and create the sense of presence and specialness which lies at the heart of tea. in a way, tea is a vehicle to feel that each moment is special and transcendent. With intention, attention, a sense of service and an open being, the tea preparer can create an environment in which others can truly feel a deeper part of themselves and a larger dimension of life. I use exceptional teas of a quality that people rarely encounter. These teas have the power to open us and to shift us into a different place within ourselves. Each tea has a particular vibration which creates a different experience for the drinker. Come have tea with me!
About the teas I use: The teas I use are a quite rare and generally of higher quality than found in any tea house in the country. I offer one of largest selections of rare teas available to the public in the West. I specialize in aged teas, with over 60 different aged teas between 10-40 years old. These teas tend to be low in caffeine but effect people in a very beautiful and powerful way. Each of my teas has been selected to present a unique flavor, aroma and experience profile and my sessions are orchestrated to create a memorable journey for you.
Each particular ceremony is different depending on the guests. It can be more educational, ritual, festive, traditional, or we can simply sit quietly in each other’s presence and drink good tea.
Tasting Sessions Offered: 
Short Session: These sessions are an opportunity to come, sample some beautiful rare teas, see the tea room, meet me and talk tea. Sessions are $50 for 1-2 people for a one hour session. These short informal sessions are also a great beginning to an evening our or when you need a break from your day to day life.
Tea Journeys: Let me take you on a journey through tea. In these sessions we will taste anywhere from 8-12 rare teas, each one a unique experience. Each of these ceremonies is very different and is based on the guests who come, the day, what teas are needed to bring everyone into a place of openness and harmony. You will leave exalted and floating on a cloud! Starting at $150 and up/1-4 people.
Grand Tea Tasting Ceremony:In this tasting session we will taste two teas from each of the six categories of tea: white, green, oolong, black tea, puerh, and herbal teas. Included will be teas from China, Japan, India and Taiwan as well as instruction in using traditional tea ware used in these countries. Flowers, incense, candles, music and snacks included. Sessions generally takes about 3 hours and you will be floating on air by the end. For 1-4 people sessions start at $200. Larger groups of up to 8 can be accommodated. These sessions are really fun and a great way to spend an evening with friends or loved ones.
Aged Puerh Tasting Ceremony:Tastings featuring these very powerful aged teas. Each of these teas presents a very different experience both aesthetically and exponentially. These tastings are really fun and beautiful. Starting at $150-$250 for 1-4 people, FROM 2-3 hours.
Custom Tastings: Focusing on your specific interests. Prices vary according to rarity of teas used.
Tea Outings in Nature: We can go to the coast or the mountains for a day hike and have an exquisite tea session in a beautiful environment.
Tea and Meditation Sessions: A tea session to calm and open using powerful sacred teas, followed by meditation session. 1hour, $35-50, sliding scale.
Tea Education Sessions:Instructional sessions focusing on desired aspects of tea knowledge. (See Cha Dao tea class page)
Tea Offering Ceremonies : A tea and offering ceremony; offerings can be made on half of a friend in need, for a healing, or for whatever the participant wants. Ceremonies include tea together, a short mediation and the offerings (such as tea, fruit, flowers, incense, etc.) are made at my temple shrine altar. It does not matter what faith or spiritual discipline you follow- these ceremonies are designed to connect you to the depth of own heart and then to make an offering from that place to something higher. Tea has the capacity to help shift us into a higher place in ourselves and so is a perfect medium for this type of ceremony.
