Welcome to January 2011 at Heavens Tea. Below is a list of public classes for the month. All classes by reservation only and are limited to 7 people. A minimum of two people is needed to run a class. These sessions are more than just classes, they are an experience of many dimensions which will connect you to the depth and spirit of tea. Private sessions, tastings, parties are available any time morning, afternoon or evening. All classes include rare teas, tea snacks, flowers, and music in a room filled with antique Asian art and beauty. The teas I use are unlike any you have likely encountered and will calm you, center you and fill you with wonder. CHINESE NEW YEARS EVENTS!
Wednesday the 2nd, 7pm-9pm.
Chinese New Years Tea Drunk! (new moon) >This pre new years evening tea will be the one of tea drunkeness, poetry, and a setting of intentions for the coming year. We will drink teas which will make your heart and being open, read spiritual poetry from different traditions or write our own. Feel free to bring books, music, sweets to share. Limit 7 people, $35, by reservation.
Thursday the 3rd, 7-9pm Chinese New Years Party - A celebration of the new year year with rare teas, sweets, astrology readings (from the web- for your sign this year), music, and a few other treats. We will drink teas that will make you swoon an float, this is meant to be a real party- so no formality, just fun, sense of community and a joyous start to the new year. Limit 10 people-$35/person. Sunday the 6th, 7-9 pm. New Years with the Immortals- this will be the quieter and most profound evening. We will be drinking a very prized and famous puerh from the 1970′s which will be an amazing experience, even for those of you who had had good aged tea. We will also drink some outstanding aged oolong from the 1980s, that I got in Taiwan, that is like drinking champagne- it will make you laugh and bubbly. We will also drink some rare aged puerh that will with one tiny cup put you into a profound state of quiet being, this tea drops you into the TAO. This will be a special night, come join me. Limit 7 people, $50.

MONTHLY CLASSES, TASTINGS AND EVENTS
Saturday 5th, 9-10:15 am. Sitting in the Mountains, A Puerh and Meditation Session. We will drink amazing aged tea for 40 minutes which will move you into a deep and quiet place and then we will meditate for another 40 minutes. This is a great way to start the weekend and the energy will carry you all day. No meditation experience is necessary, this state will come about naturally after the tea. $15-30 sliding scale.
Monday, 7th. 7-830pm. The Family of Tea, The 6 Types of Tea in Asia. Tonight, the first in our series of our tea fundamentals offerings, you will be introduced to the different kinds of tea in the world: white, green, oolong, black (hong cha), puerh and herbal. We will try each type and learn how to identify and brew these teas and about the differences in character, energy and processing. This is a great background for further tea adventures. $25-35, sliding scale.
Tuesday Day, 8th- 11am-1230pm. Learning Simple Tea Ritual for Your Daily Life. A simple tea ritual can be a powerful way to create time for yourself in your life. Time to re-center, quiet the mind, leave all the frenetic flow of the day behind and come back to your own self and heart. Learn how to very simply create simple ritual and space in your home. It is so important in the world today that you have some moments in your day to reconnect to your self, your heart and your clarity. If you dont claim a few moments of your day to connect to the sacred, it will not be given in this busy world. $35
Tuesday Evening 8th, 7-930pm. Understanding Puer Teas I. This class will introduce you to the world of puerh teas. These teas are from the mother tea trees in the world and are traditionally aged to increase their chi or potency. You will learn about the different kinds, how they change over time and how to buy puerh teas. These teas have powerful health qualities and can calm and center you in your day. $35./person
Friday Morning, 12th. 9am-1030am. Drinking the Silence, Using Tea for Meditation. In this class you will learn how to use tea to help you meditate or as and aid to your present practice. Certain teas can help move you quickly and easily into a meditative state by calming and integrating the mind body and spirit. We will sample some of these teas, feel and discuss their effects and learn the skills necessary to bring this practice to your own space. The Way ofTea is both simple and profoundly deep, come experience why. $35, limit 7 people.
Friday Day 4-530pm. Oolong Unwinding, An End of the Week Tea Session. In this session we will drink rare Chinese and Taiwanese oolongs. Basically I will get you tea drunk, this session is meant to replace Happy Hour as a way to let go of your week, relax, laugh and come back to center in a healthy way. This session will start your whole weekend off in a very special way, why not start out by becoming centered, aligned and de-stressed. This tea “party” will do that. $25-35 sliding scale, depending on need.

Saturday Day, 12th Puerh Tea Sale and Tasting! 12pm-4pm. The first of my monthly puer sales/tastings.Puerh tea is tea from the mother tea species in the world. These teas are very good for the body and can be healing on many levels. I have 15 different extremely high quality puerhs for sale including loose leaf, bricks , cakes, raw and cooked. All the puerhs I carry are very clean, have great depth and complexity of flavor, good chi (energy) and can be brewed for many many steepings. I also am selling aged pureh, some by the ounce, which have incredible chi; these teas are amazing and very hard to find. Sunday the 13th. THIS DAY IS RESERVED FOR VALENTINES DAY EVENTS
1) PRE-VALENTINES COUPLES TEA – 4-530PM. This will be an elegant tea for 3 couples, a perfect pre-romantic diner tea. We will have exquisite rare teas which will melt your heart and body (no, really, they will) and put you into a state of ecstasy. There will be chocolates and berries, of course, flowers, music, incense, candles and you will be surrounded by antique asian art. How can you resist? BY RESERVATION- First 3 couples, $50/person.
2) VALENTINES EVE PARADISE SESSION. 7-9PM. Tea is about making every moment special. In this session we will pull out all the stops and have mind-blowing rare teas that will make you swoon with ecstasy and delight. This will be a night you and your partner will always remember and we will have rare aged teas that few people in the world get to experience. We will drink things that will awaken every sense, and you will be swept away on a cloud by the end of the session. There will be flowers, chocolates and berries, of course, music, incense, candles and you will be surrounded by antique asian art. How can you resist? BY RESERVATION- First 3 couples, $135/couple.
Valentines Day-Monday the 14th, I am open for private seventy five minute sessions this day from 9am-4pm. These sessions will be filled with incredible rare teas, flowers, chocolates and berries, of course, music, incense, candles and you will be surrounded by antique Asian art. A perfect way to love your sweetie. By reservation. $100/couple.
VALENTINES TEA, A CELEBRATION OF LOVE- OPEN TO ALL, Monday 14th.- WHETHER SINGLE OR IN PARTNERSHIP. 7-9PM. This evening is a party for those who love love, whether human or divine (or bizarre- we are in Portland after all) We will get tea drunk on amazing rare teas, eat chocolates and berries, listen to music, read poetry, laugh, be in profound heart space together, and celebrate LOVE. Thursday 17th, Day. Tea for Mothers Who Need Down Time! 1030am to 12 noon. In this day Mothers are giving and giving and rarely get the time they need to restore and have some time to really relax and be taken care of. I am offering a session for mothers who need time away from the frenetic flow of their life. We will drink soothing, heart opening, centering rare teas, eat a little chocolate- there will be flowers, music, incense, candles and a constant flow of amazing tea. I would like to start doing these classes twice a month. Heavens Tea is a haven, a place of restoration, come join me. Limited to 7 mommas, $35.
Friday Day, 18th Beauty in a Cup, The Art of Brewing Tea. In this class you will learn the art of brewing teas; about water, tea ware, brewing times, how to brew different types of tea, etc. The beauty of each tea can be unlocked with proper understanding and you will learn some of the secrets in this class. This session is for beginning as well as advanced students, bring your questions, this is an art of endless subtlety. $35/person
Friday Eve, 18th “Super Fantastic Full Moon Ecstatic Tea and Poetry and Chocolate Night”On this night we will drink rare teas which will shift us into and open and expansive state. We will read ecstatic poetry from Persia, Tibet, India and the West (or your own poetry). We will eat chocolate and berries, listen to ecstatic music and howl at the moon! $35/person. Limit 7 people. (this class fills quickly)
Saturday 26th, 12-5pm. Tea Sale and Tasting: On this afternoon I will be sampling and selling a dozen exquisite rare teas for sale. I have worked very hard to find teas from pristine places and sources which support the farmers and old school tea growing techniques (an art that is disappearing). These teas are a different caliber from what is on the market and these teas are exquisite and healing . Stop in, sample and buy a special gift for some one or yourself. Included- rare whites, oolongs, herbs, and many superb puerhs, both new and aged. My teas are of the highest quality and many of them you will get 9 or 10 steepings from one set of leaves.
