Welcome to March 2011 at Heavens Tea. Below is a list of public classes for the month. All classes by reservation only and are limited to 7 people. A minimum of two people is needed to run a class. These sessions are more than just classes, they are an experience of many dimensions which will connect you to the depth and spirit of tea. Private sessions, tastings, parties are available any time morning, afternoon or evening. All classes include rare teas, tea snacks, flowers, and music in a room filled with antique Asian art and beauty. The teas I use are unlike any you have likely encountered and will calm you, center you and fill you with wonder. Thursday Day, 10th. Class: The Family of Tea, The 6 Types of Tea in Asia. 7-830pm. Tonight you will be introduced to the different kinds of tea in the world: white, green, oolong, black (hong cha), puerh and herbal. We will try each type and learn about the differences in character, energy and processing. This is a great background for further tea adventures and you will learn how to brew each kind of tea. $35.
Thursday Eve, 10th. Tasting: Wuyi Oolongs. On this night we will drink top shelf oolongs from famed the Wuyi Mountains, these teas are known for their powerful yet refined ”chi” or energy which is deeply calming and can shift you into sublte states awareness with a profound connection to nature. These teas also have amazing aromas and flavors which change in every steeping of the tea – drinking these teas is like drinking “beauty’ itself. We will drink only Zheng Yan teas, teas from the tradtianal growing region: Water Fairy, White Roosters Comb, Cinnimon Fragrance, Old Bush and aged Wuyi teas. This will be an elegant evening of special tea. $40
Saturday 12th, Morning: Sacred Tea and Meditation, 9-1015am.Sacred Tea and Meditation: We will drink amazing aged tea for 40 minutes which will move you into a deep and quiet place and then we will meditate for another 40 minutes. This is a great way to start the weekend and the energy will carry you all day. No meditation experience is necessary, this state will come about naturally after the tea. $15-30 sliding scale.
Saturday Day 12th: Class: Understanding Puerh Teas.This class will introduce you to the world of puerh teas. These teas are from the mother tea trees in the world and are traditionally aged to increase their chi or potency. You will learn about the different kinds, how they change over time and how to buy puerh teas. These teas have powerful health qualities and can calm and center you in your day. $35./person 
Monday 14th, 7-830pm. Beauty in a Cup, The Art of Brewing Tea. In this class you will learn the art of brewing teas; about water, tea ware, brewing times, how to brew different types of tea, etc. The beauty of each tea can be unlocked with proper understanding and you will learn some of the secrets in this class. This session is for beginning as well as advanced students, bring your questions, this is an art of endless subtlety. $35/person
Tuesday Day 15th, 11am-1230pm. Learning Simple Tea Ritual for Your Daily Life. A simple tea ritual can be a powerful way to create time for yourself in your life. Time to re-center, quiet the mind, leave all the frenetic flow of the day behind and come back to your own self and heart. Learn how to very simply create simple ritual and space in your home. If you dont claim a few moments of your day to connect to the sacred, it will not be given in this busy world. $35
Tuesday 15th,7-9pm or so. A Night of Healing and Sacred Tea with Nita Bryant and Heavens Tea. In this session Nita Bryant, a gifted healer will work energetically with people and answer questions as I serve a series of teas which will open, relax and facilitate the healing process. Those of you who have met Nita know she has a tremendous capacity to help people make deep and powerful shifts in their life. $75/person.
Wedsnesday, 16th. 7-830pm. Only the Cup Speaks- A Silent Tea. A night of drinking rare teas silently. Left only to sit in the essence of each tea, you will taste, smell and feel the effects of each rare tea as never before. The silence brings your full attention into presence where every sensation is heightened. Tea is plant medicine and like all medicine like this so much of the practice is learning to listen- listen to the tea, you body, your thoughts- the world is full of conversation, we just dont hear it because we are talking all the time. Come drink with me and let tea so the talking. 35$.
Thursday Morning, 17th, 9-1030am. Sitting Like a Mountian- Using Tea for Meditation Practices :Using Tea for Meditation and Self Cultivation. 11am-12:30pm. This class will teach you how to use tea to aide your meditation/yoga/ chi gung practices. Your will learn to use teas to help open the acupuncture meridians to increase flow and awareness of the subtle energy in your body. Teas can be a profound aide for connecting to meditative states, come with your practical questions! $35/person
Thursday Night 17th, Blind Tea, A Night of Essences. This is a very special night where we explore the essence of tea – its aromas, flavors, and energetics. Guests will wear a blind fold and be given glass after glass of various teas. Without sight you will be focused on the more subtle parts of the tea experience and be drawn into a deep expression of tea, smell, taste, texture and self. There will also be little bites to ear- a berry, a chocolate, etc. This will be a night of essences and beauty. Limited to 6 people- $45.00
Saturday 19th, Rare Tea Sale and Tasting:12-3pm. On this afternoon I will be sampling and selling a dozen exquisite rare teas for sale. I have worked very hard to find teas from pristine places and sources which support the farmers and old school tea growing techniques (an art that is disappearing). These teas are a different caliber from what is on the market and these teas are exquisite and healing . Stop in, sample and buy a special gift for some one or yourself
Saturday the 19th, FULL MOON ECSTATIC TEA AND POETRY NIGHT! 7-9PM. On this night we will drink rare teas which will shift us into and open and expansive state. We will read ecstatic poetry from Persia, Tibet, India and the West (or your own poetry). We will eat chocolate and berries, listen to ecstatic music and howl at the moon! $35/person. Limit 7 people. (this class fills quickly)
Sunday 20th, Veranl Exquinox Tea: Flying Carpet- A Night of Rare Teas, Writing/Sharing Poetry, and Sacred Music. 7-9pm. On this night we will drink rare teas which will awaken the senses and inspire your spirit. We will write and share sacred poetry, read mystical poetry and you are encouraged to bring cds of sacred music of the world to share. This will be a night of inspiration and flight! $35, limit 7 people.
Monday 21st; Tea as Plant, Spirit, Medicine: 7-830. Rare teas have an amazing and deep effect on the human mind, body and spirit. The variety of vibrations and energies found in teas is truly stunning. We will explore the profound healing and state shifting properties of tea and the potentialities of using tea for inner work and to connect you to the deeper, broader harmonies of nature and creation. $35 .
Tuesday Day, 22nd. 1-230pm. Chinese Tea Ceremony: Gong Fu Cha. Tuesday 9th, 7-830pm. In this session we will learn about the simple yet profound art of Chinese tea ceremony. This simple ritual can be learned in its simplest form in one session. This will give you a simple tea ritual you can use at home or with friends. This art appears simple, yet like most true arts, it has endless depth and can take a life time to master. Time to start your journey. $ 35.
Tuesday Eve, 22nd. Drinking the Tao- A Night of Profound Aged Puerh Teas ,In this session we will drink extremely rare puerh from the 70s and 80s.and 90s. These teas are form the “mother” tea trees in the world and many of my puer teas are from trees hundreds of years old and from wild forests. These old teas will transform you and will experience many profound states of being. These old teas are considered very sacred and are real medicine for the mind, body and spirit. Working with this medicine is my specialty and those who have been here before know how amazing these evenings can be. We will be doing these once a month. Limited to six people. $50
Wedesday Day 23rd, Tea for Mothers Who Need Down Time! 1-230pm. In this day Mothers are giving and giving and rarely get the time they need to restore and have some time to really relax and be taken care of. I am offering a session for mothers who need time away from the frenetic flow of their life. We will drink soothing, heart opening, centering rare teas, eat a little chocolate- there will be flowers, music, incense, candles and a constant flow of amazing tea. I would like to start doing these classes twice a month. Heavens Tea is a haven, a place of restoration, come join me. $35/person.
Wedenesday the 23rd. Tea and Chi, 7-830pm. Rare tea is full of “chi” or living energy. We will explore some of the various types of chi found in good quality teas. Some teas will make you happy, some ecstatic, some meditative and some will connect you to the vibrancy of life around you. In this session we will explore the various types of chi and you will experience first hand the beautiful range of vibrations, flavors and aromas captured in these rare teas.This is a rare chance to experience these teas and the sacred power of teas for yourself. $35.
Friday 25th, Day Class: Drinking the Mountains- Rare Oolongs of the Great Tea Mountains of China. 11am-1230pm. In this class we will drink rare oolongs from some of the old famous tea mountains of China. Each place has its own special energy and ecology which shapes the way a tea tastes, smells and feels. There is a reason why some of these mountains have been valued by emperors, priests and common folk for centuries,the tea that comes from each of these places is truley sublime and powerful and each carries the unique signiture of the terrior. $35/person.
Saturday 26th, Puerh Tea Sale and Tasting: 12-3pm. .Puerh tea is tea from the mother tea species in the world. These teas are very good for the body and can be healing on many levels. I am offering 20 different extremely high quality puerhs for sale including loose leaf, bricks , cakes, raw and cooked. All the puerhs I carry are very clean, have great depth and complexity of flavor, good chi (energy) and can be brewed for many many steepings. I also am selling aged pureh, some by the ounce, which have incredible chi; these teas are amazing and very hard to find. Sunday 27th. Tea for Healing and Self Cultivation. 7-9pm. In this class you will learn about using tea in conjunction with healing, acupuncture, yoga, chi gung, ecstatic dance and massage. Tea can prepare your or a patients body and spirit to engage from a deep and receptive place. For healers, tea can quickly bring a patient to a centered and deep place form which they can ask for and/or receive help. For yoga and chi gung practitioners, teas can give you a profound energetic sensitivity and unify body mind and spirit. Please bring your questions so I can address your needs fully. We will drink amazing teas as examples. $45/person.
Tuesday 29th.7-830pm. Water the Mother of Tea. WATER is the essence of tea. It is the living medium upon which tea can unfold its flavors, aromas, and energy. In this session we will explore the role of water in the art of tea. You will see how different waters effect the flavor and expression of tea and we will be introduced to ancient practices of working with water and tea. This study reaches to the very heart of tea, for beginners and advanced students. $35/person.
Rolling in Flowers- An Herbal Tea Session. Monday 29th, 7-830pm. $25-35 sliding scale. There are amazing flowers, roots, and leaves that are made into teas and these plants can be healing, calming and transformative. In this class we will explore herbal teas from both eastern and western traditions. We will learn about their healing properties, brewing, and the energetics of these teas. Come and drink flower and leaf!
Thursday 31st, 7-9pm.Geisha Games- An Evening of Drinking and Poetry. Monday 8th, 7-830pm. 25-35$, sliding scale. We will play and old geisha game this evening. We will drink rare evocative teas, but I will not tell you what they are – teas which will make you swoon with fragrance, flavors and chi- and then we will each compose a poem or poetic name for the tea. This is a really fun evening- there will be sublime moments of discovery, giggles, and chocolate.
