Welcome my friends to Heavens Tea and Sacred Arts Center-Here is a listing of our monthly sacred tea offerings. We speicalize in rare teas which have a great amount of chi or life force. These teas are calming and have the ability to shift us into deeper, more profound states of awareness. We have one of the largest selection of  rare teas available to the public in the counrty and over 75 aged teas between 10-50 years old.  Our many classes and sessions teach both the classical art of tea and the spritiual, inner art of tea. My goal is to give others the tools for making tea thier own art and to support the growth of tea culutre in the states. Please contact for private sessons as these are my art and are an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. These can be schedualed for any time and I leave weekends free for these.  All sessions include flowers, music, tea snacks, candles, incense in a setting of beauty and elegance. Classes are held either in the indoor tea temple or the outdoor tea pagoda. Private classes, parties and rare tea tasting sessions (and weddings) available most times and all weekend nights. July 1st, Wednesday-  Tea Tasting- Rare Olongs of China and Taiwan.  7-9pm. $45/person.  In this session we will leaern about and drink some of the great oolongs of China. These teas are of a quality that is not served in any teahouse and you will floating after the first tea. The  range of tastes, aromas and energy from each tea is extraordianry and will truely change your ideas about what “tea ” is. We will drink rare Wuyi, Tie Quan Yin,and  Phoenix teas from China and Taiwnaese oolongs, including aged oolong and oriental beauty.

July 3rd, Friday- Rare Tea Tasting- Aged Puerhs of China. 7-9pm. $50/person or $90/couple, limit 7 people. In this class we will try some very special aged puerh teas from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and learn about these powerful and exquisite aged teas. These aged teas develop extraordinary flavors and aromas and chi (energy) over time as well as putting you into a very ecstatic and relaxed state.  This is a good place to come and learn what real aged peurhs taste and feel their transformational power.

July 4th, Saturday Morning. Come join us for this weekly session, it is an amazing way to start a weekend. For beggining as well as advanced practioners. No experince in meditation or spiritual orientation is of any matter. (no mind-no matter)

July 6th Monday: A Tea Journey-Rare Tea Tasting. $50/person.  5-7 pm. In this tea journey we will try 6 different teas encompassing a wide range of vibrations, flavors, aromas and experinecs. Many of these teas are truley transporting and you will find yourself in a very open and transcendant state by the time we are done. We will drink white teas, oolongs, aged oolongs, young and old puerhs as well as a few suprises.

July 7th Tuesday:  Drunken Full Moon Tea Session:  7-8:30pm. Limit 7 people. Cost: $35. Reservation Required, please call or email. We will celebrate the full moon this month by getting “tea drunk” on  aged puerh and then write inspired tea poetry. Full moon nights are meant for wild abandonment, artistic expression and laughter.  For those of you who have had my old peurhs you know this will be a transcendant poetic evening. Tea snacks will be served. If weather permits, we will be in the outdoor teahouse.

July 8th Wednesday: Drinking the Forest- The Aged Teas of China. 7-8:30pm. $40/person. Limit 7 people. In this session we will drink and explore the various aged teas of China: 1980 aged oolong, 1989 peurh, 1998 lui an black tea, 1992 liu bao black tea, aged 1996 tibetan brick tea and 1998 liang green tea. These teas are all rich and quite heady and will leave you floating. Some of these teas are like drinking the whole forest- the earth, the trees, the leaves and eveything in between. This is a are chance to try these teas, please join me. 7-9pm, limit 6 people.

July 9th, Thrusaday: The Art of Brewing Tea and the Classical Tea Ware of Asia. 7-8:30pm. $35/pserson, limit 7 people. In t his session we will exlore the art of brewing teas. This is a sublte and never ending study; you will learn how to approach different kinds of tea and how to bring out the best in each one. This is a must for anyone who loves tea. We will as always drink some extraordianary teas this evening. For both beggings students and advanced.

July 13th, Monday: Class- The Chinese Tea Ceremony. 7-8:30pm, limit 7 people. $25/person. Learn this simple but profound ritual for making and sharing tea. The Chinese Tea Ceremony, “Gung Fu Cha” , is a very simpe ritual that can create great beauty, presence and connection among those participating. It is a great way to create a little sacred time and space in your day thorugh tea and simple ritual and is also a great way to be with freinds and loved ones.

July 14th, Tuesday: Sacred Asian Art and Tea Classs.7-8:30. $35/person. Limit 7 people. In this class we will drink several potent teas which will put us into a state of depth and calm and then we will discuss and learn about sacred meaning in Tibetan and Indian Art. We will look at paintings, statues and books and I will teach you to read the sacred sybolism embeded in these art forms. Feel free to bring paintings to discuss.  I have over 25 years experience in the Asian art feild and have been a guest curator at the Portland Museum of Art.

July 15th, Wednesday: Herbal Tea Class. 7-8:30pm. There are amazing flowers and plants to drink, calm and heal us. In this class we will explore herbal teas from  the west and China. We will learn about brewing, the uses of herbs, and the energetics of herbal teas.  Come and drink flowers and leaf! We will drink rose, cammomille, immortality tea, tea flower and calendual among others. Limit 7 people, cost $35/ person.

July 16th, Thursday. The Sacred Art of Tea. 7-8:30. $35. Limit 7 people. Come and learn about the sacred path of tea as well as the methods for creating sacred tea sessions. Making tea for someone can be a very powerful event if you learn how to bring presence, intention, attention and a sense of service to it. Also, you will learn what kind of teas facilitate this path. We will drink some very special teas.  This will be the first of many classes on the sacred aspects of Cha Dao (the way of tea)

July 18th, Saturday: Sacred Tea and Meditation Session. 9-10:15am. 15-20$, limit 11 people. We will drink aged tea for 40 minutes to bring us into a state of quiet and expansivness and then sit in the meditation room for a 30 minute meditation session.

July 20th, Monday. Tea and Qi Class- an exploration of the types of chi or energy in tea.$45/pserson. Limit 7 people. In this session we will exlpore the various kinds of chi (energy) in rare teas. Chi in tea can be ecstatic, meditative, expansive, healing  deeply quieting, wild or embody beauty. We will drink various teas and share experiences of thier internal effects. (PS- this is VERY FUN). You will leave floating on air.

July 21st, Tuesday:  Class: The Art of Asian Tea ware. 7=8:30pm, $35/person, limit 7 people. In this class yo will be educated in the various kinds of classic Asian teaware form Japan, Korea, and China. You will learn how to use each type of teapot, how know which tea to use with each kind of teaware and about the aesethics of teaware. Limit 8 people. Cost $25-35, sliding scale. July 22nd, Wednesday:  Young Puerh Tea Tasting  (1-10 yrs old). 7-9pm, $40/person. In this session we will explore puerh teas from Yunnan, China. We will try 7 teas and explore how these teas develope in taste, aroma, body and chi (energy) over time. ( I have over 45 younger peruhs to choose from) This class will also help those buying puerh tea and I will instruct you on what to look for in a good younger puerh tea.

July 23rd, Thursday: Tea Drunk - A Summer Tea Journey. $35, limit 7 people.  In this session we will celebrate spring in the outdoor teahouse. (weather permitting). I will take you on a journey through rare teas which have very powerful chi and each has the ability to shift you into a different state. This session will include rare aged oolong, puerhs from 1000 year old trees as well as a vareity of other teas that will make you swoon and blissful. Come walk in the clouds with me!

July 25th, Saturday Morning: Sacred Tea and Meditation Session. $20/pserson. July 30th, Thursday 7-8:30pm, limit 7 people : The Ecstatic Poetry of Asia and Ecstatic Tea Session. In this evening we will sit in the outdoor teahouse, drink heady rare teas, and read and share poetry from the great ecstatic traditions of Asia. We will read such things as great sufi peotry, mahasiddha poetry form Tibet, wandering Sadhu poetry form India and Taoist poetry form China. We will drink teas that will bring us into that ecstatic state….come celebrate the spiraling  joy of life!

July 31st, Friday- Tea Class- An Intorduction to the World of Asian Tea. 7-8:30. $35/person. In this session we will learn about the six major classes of teas: white, green, oolong, black, puerh and herbal. Differences in effect, brewing techniques and approprtiate tea ware will be explained. This is also a chance to try examples of these teas far above what is commonly available.

These teas come form the origanal tea trees in the world, some living for thousands of years and are aged after picking. We will taste both young and old puerhs, learn about brewing methods and how to know quality puerh.

friday may 22nd . A Tea Journey-Rare Tea Tasting. $50/person.  7-9pm. In this tea journey we will try 7 different teas encompassing a wide range of vibrations, flavors, aromas and experinecs. Many of these teas are truley transporting and you will find yourself in a very open and transcendant state by the time we are done. We will drink white teas, oolongs, aged oolongs, young and old puerhs as well as a few suprises.

sunday, may 24th. Full Moon Tea and Poetry Session. 7-9pm. $45/person. We will celebrate the full moon this month by getting “tea drunk” on  aged puerh and then write inspired tea poetry. Full moon nights are meant for wild abandonment, artistic expression and laughter.  For those of you who have had my old peurhs you know this will be a transcendant poetic evening. Tea snacks will be served.

In this class we will drink several potent teas which will put us into a state of depth and calm and then we will discuss and learn about Iconography in Tibetan art. We will look at books of old paintings and I will teach you to read the sacred sybolism embeded in this art form. Feel free to bring paintings to discuss. friday may 29th. Rare Tea and Chocolate Tasting. 7-9pm. Cost $65/couple. In this session we will try 5 differnent haigh quality chocolates with 5 rare teas. THURSDAY 16th. Chinese Tea Ceremony Class. 7-8:30. Learn this simple but profound ritual for making and sharing tea. The Chinese Tea Ceremony, “Gung Fu Cha” , is a very simpe ritual that can create great beauty, presence and connection among those participating. It is a great way to create a little sacred time and space in your day thorugh tea and simple ritual and is also a great way to be with freinds and loved ones. Cost $35, limit 7 people. FRIDAY 17th. Rare Tea Tasting- The Aged Teas of China. 7-9pm. In this session you will have a rare chance to try the  different aged teas of China: 20 year Puerh, 20 year Aged Oolong, 19 year aged green Lui An, 15 year aged black Lui Bao, 12 year aged green Liang tea, 11 year old FU tea and 10 year aged Tibetan tea. Most of these teas are ukown outside china and they are quite unusal and fun to drink. Aged teas have a low caffine content but an increased amount of flavor aroma and “chi” or energy. SUNDAY 19th- Private Sacred Tea and Vedic Astology Sessions- Sign up for a private 45 minute rare tea tasting followed by a 45 minute private vedic astrology session with Andy Matinog, a gifted yogic practitioner, teacher and vedic astrologer. The tea sessions are geared towards opening you up in a very deep way, through the use of rare aged teas, so that upon entering the vedic reading you are in a place from which you can ask and receive deeply from. These reading can help with navigationg the swirling tides of life.  Fee: $45 for Tea and $50-75, sliding scale for Vedic session.

SUNDAY 26th- Sacred Tea and Reiki Healing Sessions. These private two hour sessions include an hour of rare teas which will relax and open you in a very deep way followed by an hour of Reiki healing with Stacey Darbey who has a profound gift for healing.  Reiki is a form of hands on energetic healing which will help your body, mind and spirit return to a state of greater natural health. Cost $100 for the two hour session. 11am-5pm.

MONDAY 27th-  Rare Aged Oolong Tasting. In this session we will try five precious aged oolongs: rare 1970s Sichuan oolong toucha, 1970s Tie Quan Yin, Early 1978 Baozhong Oolong, a mid 1990s Honey Orchid Phoenix Oolong and an amazing early 80s Baozhong. When teas age properly, the caffine level drops but the chi, flaovor and aromas evolve into complex beautiful attributes. These teas have a tremendous amount of chi but at the same time will make you very very relaxed. This will be an amazing session, dont miss it. Cost $50/person. Time 7-9pm. Limit 8 people. We will start with a 1970s Baozhong from Taiwan, then the 1950s oolong and finsih with a beautiful hand crafted Chinese wuyi tea (Da Hong Pao). This should be an exquisite evening- the flavors, aromas and energetics of these teas are truley amazing andyou will find yourself in a deeply open, relaxed and “tea drunk” state by the end of the session. This old tea has  storng chi and amazing flavors which cahnge form steeping to steeping- aged wood, dried fruit, earth, vanillia, spicey notes as well as a sandelwood quality are some of the notes of this tea. We will drink 8-10 steepings of this rare tea as well as some aged oolong form the 1980s and an amazing wuyi tea which will leave you floating on silk. Limit 8 people. Cost $35-50 sliding scale.
